We meet Elijah in the book of 1 Kings. With no background or real introduction, we encounter a man who passionately does the right thing despite the hardships he knows it will create. However, the problems don’t end there. Things go from bad to worse. Yet ultimately the challenges he faces could be considered gifts from God as he learns to trust in God’s ways and God’s timing. Could we say the same for ourselves? Are we learning to trust in God’s ways and in God’s timing? Are we boldly doing the right thing despite the potential costs? Are we allowing God to empty us of ourselves and fill us with His Spirit?
