Siege for our Hearts

It’s always a great scene…  The hero is surrounded, the enemy is closing in, there is no way forward, no way to escape, and then – BOOM! – the hero bursts forth from the siege and fights his or her way to freedom.

Without a doubt, the pivotal moment in any movie or story with this set up.  But what do you do when you’re not the hero?  What do you do when the breakthrough doesn’t come?  Where do you turn then?

As we’ve been walking through the life and ministry of the Old Testament prophet Elisha, we have discovered our own stories in the midst of several of Elisha’s stories.  These ancient stories are more about us today than we often think and this week, I think, is no exception.
