Weekly Update 11.20.17

This is the week that we specifically pause to give thanks.  As we prepare our turkeys, stuffing, and multitude of desserts, we also set our hearts and minds on the things for which are thankful.  In our fast-paced world, it’s always nice to slow down for a few minutes to express our gratitude.  I, personally, want to thank each of you who call HBIC “home.”  Together, we are Christ’s church.  Obviously, we’re not the only church out there but we are one expression of Christ’s Body.  And He has called us together to be His Bride.  I am so thankful that God has called me here to serve as your pastor and that God has called you here to serve together.  As we each fulfill the calling God has on our lives, we will be the church He has called us to be!  Thank you for joining us each week for worship, for fellowshipping together, and for answering God’s call to reach the world with the free gift offered through Jesus!

I also am grateful for your friendship.  As many of you have experienced, it’s not easy moving and starting over again.  Allison and I are so grateful and excited to be back in Lancaster County with family but we do miss the friendships we built over our tenure in South Carolina.  Thank you to each of you who have made this first 14 months back in PA full of growing friendships and fellowship.

I’m thankful for my son who makes life very interesting each day.  I’m thankful that you all have loved him as well.  I know that he is growing up in a church where family is valued, where kids are welcomed and encouraged to express and grow in their faith.

There is so much more I could say but I’ll be short and to the point—Thank you!

I hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends giving thanks for all God has done in your life.  May your turkey be tasty and your heart full of gratitude!  Happy Thanksgiving!

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Jan
