I’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Upward Soccer Season so far.  We are officially half way through the games for the season and thanks to all of your hard work and generous donations, things are going amazingly well!  We’ve had great weather on Saturdays for the first time in years.  The new double-game format has opened up increased opportunities to connect with families and community members.  I so appreciate those of you who are here each Saturday simply to talk with people!  Helping out with Upward can be as simple as that—talking to people–and you’re all doing an amazing job at it!  Of course, I’m also excited because this coming Saturday is a rain make up and we’ve had no rain so we all get to SLEEP IN… or whatever you like to do on a free Saturday with no plans 🙂

In two weeks, May 5th, we have another “all hands on deck” weekend as we have Upward Game Week #3 as well as the annual Chicken BBQ.  I have no doubts, however, that it will all go great as you and the HBIC family continue to step up and get involved.  We’re planning for another sunny weekend so don’t forget to purchase your Chicken tickets before they’re all sold out.

Also in two weeks, the Lancaster county-wide week of service should be on your calendar.  Go Beyond is a church-led initiative where churches from all over the county band together to serve our community as the hands and feet of Christ.  This year, HBIC is planning to participate in several ways including food packing through GAiN and picking up trash in a citywide clean up.  We’ll have more specific details on Sunday for you but tentatively mark your calendars for Monday night (May 7) and Saturday morning (May 12).

I hope to see everyone at the Dwelling Place this Wednesday night as we take a step back from working and serving diligently to simply worship our Savior and spend time in His presence.  See you at 7pm!
