Weekly Update 9.11.17

“Can I bring something?”  Any time we have people over to our house, they always seem to ask this question.  Many times the answer is “sure, bring dessert” because you can never have enough desserts 🙂  As you hopefully know already, this coming Sunday is National Back to Church Sunday and at HBIC we are kicking off our fall season with new Sunday School Classes, a new sermon series, and a church-wide family picnic after service.  For weeks now, I’ve been encouraging you to invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to join us this Sunday.  Who have you invited?  Assuming you have already invited someone (or are about to…it’s never too late!), they may be asking you “can I bring something”?  While all the food for the picnic is being provided, they can feel free to bring their lawn chairs as we’ll be needing someone to sit for our picnic!  I’m really looking forward to this time together on Sunday as we worship, eat, and fellowship together and as I get to meet all of your friends and neighbors! Rain or shine, we’ll have a great time!

After the service yesterday, many of you shared your appreciation for the marble visual.  I hope that you were each challenged in some way to make your time count.  Our 38 children at HBIC need us to impress faith into their lives and their parents need support in raising them to know God.  Will you please pray for our kids and families?  Will you please ask God what role He wants you to play in their lives?

As much as I don’t want to admit it, summer is over.  Fall is sneaking into everything…the crispness in the air, the leaves slowly starting to turn color, pumpkin showing up in everything at the store…  As we head into this next season, I’m looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in and through us as a church family.  Over and over again as I’ve been reading scripture recently, I’ve been reminded of the community approach to faith and life.  I am so glad God has brought my family to connect with your family and I know He is going to do some amazing things when we’re together.  Let’s jump into faith and Fall together and let God’s Spirit move!

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Jan
