Weekly Update 6.19.17

I hope you all had a great day celebrating Father’s Day and spending time with your families!  I know many of you were on vacation this weekend and weren’t able to join us in worship yesterday.  We continued in our study of the Book of James as we launched into the closing chapter.  James looked specifically at walking humbly before God in how we relate to our material possessions as well as waiting patiently on our coming Lord.  I would encourage you, if you were not able to join us yesterday, to check out the sermon online!

Maybe it’s just me but I have this reoccurring fear of showing up late.  It’s one of my quirks.  I absolutely hate being late.  When I was in my teens, my family started visiting churches and my dad was always getting the start times wrong.  Trust me when I say there is no easy way to sneak in late to a church service as a visiting family of 8 (grandparents included) when the only seats open are in the very front!  These experiences did nothing to help my strong desire to always be early to everything!

This coming Sunday, however, you all are faced with a slightly different predicament.  No matter if you show up early or late, no one will see you walking into our church building.  That’s because this Sunday, June 25th, is our annual Picnic at the Pond.  Our worship service will be held offsite at the Rohrer’s Pond.  We will be meeting at 10am for worship and baptism and enjoy lunch and some swimming afterwards.  Please feel free to invite your friends and neighbors to join us, but please remember where we’re meeting 🙂  Don’t be the only one at the church on Sunday…join us at the pond!

But don’t worry…if you just can’t imagine not coming to the church this week, you’re in luck!  This Wednesday we will be gathering at The Dwelling Place for a special time of prayer and worship.  Plan on joining us Wednesday night at 7pm at the church as well as Sunday at 10am at the pond!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Jan
